Well, this may be a bit of whimsy, but since a couple of people asked, here it is. As a bit of background, one of the "other" things we do is make rustic furniture. There are three of us involved and we get together a couple of times a week to work on this. We have been working on some new designs and BJ, one of us, said her husband thought we should make a chair specifically designed for sitting in while playing a guitar. As you can see below, we got a bit carried away ![]() We make our furniture from hardwood saplings, mortised and tenoned together. Here is BJ making the shavings fly as she cuts a tenon on a piece. Early in the game, we decided it needed a guitar neck, so here I am gluing a scrap fingerboard onto a piece of mahogany for that. Yes, we did get a bit carried away ![]() At this point, BJ decided it needed a trial run ![]() ![]() So here is what it looked like last Friday, temporarily strung up. Still needs a couple of dot markers in the fingerboard to cover up some screws and a bit of fine tuning ![]() Just thought I would share some of our lighter moments around here. But it is quite functional. Grant |

Great idea Grant, Funny cause couple of months ago, i was thinkin' of building a guitar table, no jokes! I didn't figure out the size, types of wood or colors yet, but lookin' at this chair makes me think seriously about building one. Thanks for sharing Serge |
Hows it sound? Just kidding..... ![]() Great looking guitar chair and functional too with no arms to get in the way of playing. Who is the maker of the guitar that BJ is playing? Hesh
The guitar is one of mine. A rather "Plain Jane" with a mismatched myrtle back. It is just my "shop guitar". It sits out here and gets abused ![]() Dave, Yes I had an extra half set of cocobolo binding already bent laying around, so I touched up the curve on the nozzle of the heat gun and slapped it on.
